What you can clean
- Voice memos and audio notes
- Interviews, lectures and meetings
- Podcast and voiceover takes
- The audio of any video in Photos or Files
- New recordings made inside the app
How it is different from an audio editor
Most audio cleaners on phones are small editors with an equaliser and a noise gate. They cut quiet parts and lower some frequencies. Noise Reducer uses a neural network trained on speech, so it can remove noise even while someone is talking, which is when you hear it most.
Formats
| Input | Output |
|---|---|
| Audio files from Files (for example M4A, WAV, MP3) | M4A or WAV |
| Videos from Photos or Files | MP4 with the original picture |
| Recordings made in the app | M4A, WAV or video |
Private and offline
Your recordings stay on your iPhone. There is no account, no upload and no server queue, which also means it works anywhere, even without signal.
Questions and answers
What is the best app to clean up audio on iPhone?
For voice recordings, a speech model gives the cleanest result. Noise Reducer runs one on the device. See our comparison of audio cleaner apps for other options.
Can it remove echo?
It reduces some room sound together with noise, but it is built for noise. Heavy echo in a large hall is best avoided when recording.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes.
